Thanks for taking the time to check out my site. I am a firm believer that photographic style is very personal so I appreciate your interest. Hopefully you get a good sense of my work and approach. For me, lifestyle photography has very little to do with on-command smiles (although I always get a few of these for my clients, often for the sake of the grandparents), but much more about capturing an authentic moment; freezing a point in time that will tell a story for years to come.
For as long as I can remember, I have been a secret stalker of beautiful images and was always moved by the emotions a picture could evoke. But it was when my first child was born that I really fell in love with the personal, often private and extremely honest story a photograph could convey. A great image can take us back to a special time and place-reminding us of the smell in the air, the laughter in the room and the story behind that memory. We all have moments or special details we wish we could stare at forever. A great photograph makes that possible.
Lifestyle photography is in every way my dream job that I feel blessed to be pursuing. The 10 years prior to this that I spent as a television reporter and producer allowed me to really understand the people behind the visuals and find the essence of each subject. While living in New York City in 2010, I finally found the courage to combine my storytelling experience with my passion for photography. As I began working with families, I started juxtaposing the hard edges and industrial background of the city with the softness of the little people and tender moments of the families, defining my style in many ways.
Now headquartered in beautiful Charleston, I am inspired almost daily by the beauty surrounding me. Whether it’s the romance and charm of downtown, the pristine beaches, or the natural beauty of the age-old oak trees and farmlands, just about everything down here feeds the mind and spirit. But I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t get a good dose of big city, so I travel north and west for clients to make sure that each backdrop is as much a part of the picture as the subjects themselves.
My goal in every session is not only for your family to have fun, be silly and show your true personality, but to also reveal the beauty of your family and the details you will be reminded of 20 years from now. I look forward to chatting with you soon.
